Contact in Exceptional Circumstances

At Tiny Hearts, we understand that some families face uniquely challenging circumstances. In addition to our community-based contact sessions, we provide specialised supervised contact for children in complex or sensitive situations. These services are carefully managed to ensure each child’s safety, emotional well-being, and best interests remain at the centre of every decision.

Tiny Hearts works in partnership with prison liaison teams and local authorities to support children maintaining safe, meaningful connections with family members in custody.

  • On-site Supervision: Our trained supervisors attend sessions within prison settings to provide emotional support and safeguarding throughout the visit.
  • Authorised Arrangements: All visits are arranged only with the full consent of the child’s social worker and the prison authority, ensuring all safety, legal, and documentation protocols are followed.

When a child or a family member are admitted to hospital due to emergencies or long-term conditions, additional supervision may be required to safeguard their well-being. Tiny Hearts offers dedicated hospital-based services tailored to these high-stress, sensitive scenarios:

  • Child Safety Monitoring
Continuous supervision during hospital stays to ensure the child’s safety and comfort.
  • Emergency Child Supervision
Immediate support for children admitted under urgent circumstances—especially where neglect, abuse, or family crisis is suspected.
  • 24-Hour Protection Monitoring
Round-the-clock supervision for vulnerable children requiring ongoing oversight due to safeguarding concerns.
  • Crisis Supervision Service
Specialised care and coordination in situations where a hospital stay is linked to a wider family crisis, including close collaboration with healthcare staff and social services.

Life events such as weddings, funerals, or family gatherings can carry deep emotional significance—and also bring complexities when families are separated or involved in care proceedings. Tiny Hearts offers supervised contact to support children in safely participating in these moments, where appropriate.

  • Bereavement Support: Contact at funerals, memorials, or vigils, arranged with sensitivity to the child’s age, emotional capacity, and consent.
  • Celebratory Occasions: Supervised attendance at weddings, engagements, or other important cultural or family events, where maintaining familial connections is in the child’s best interest.
  • Emotional Safeguarding: Supervisors provide discreet, compassionate support, helping the child process the occasion without pressure or exposure to adult conflict.
  • Planning & Risk Assessment: Each event is carefully assessed and approved by the child’s social worker and, where applicable, the court.

Tiny Hearts adopts a collaborative, trauma-informed approach—working closely with medical teams, social workers, and legal guardians to provide consistent care, emotional reassurance, and tailored support for each child.
