Virtual Supervised Contact
Supporting Safe Connections, Wherever You Are
At Tiny Hearts Contact Centre, we understand that maintaining meaningful relationships between children and their non-resident parents or family members isn’t always possible in person. Whether due to court restrictions, health concerns, long-distance separation, or safeguarding issues, virtual supervised contact offers a safe, structured, and compassionate solution.
Our Virtual Supervised Contact service allows families to stay connected in a way that is professionally supported, emotionally safe, and fully compliant with safeguarding standards. Every session is facilitated in real time by trained supervisors and tailored to meet the unique needs of the child.
What Is Virtual Supervised Contact?
Virtual Supervised Contact is a professionally managed video or telephone session that enables children to interact safely with a family member when in-person contact is not appropriate or possible. Unlike casual video calls, each session is:
- Structured and planned
- Continuously supervised by trained staff
- Designed with the child’s wellbeing at the centre
- Compliant with legal and safeguarding requirements
We use secure, user-friendly platforms like Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, or telephone—ensuring accessibility while upholding security and control.
A Child-Centred Approach
Tiny Hearts puts the emotional comfort and developmental needs of the child above all else. Every virtual session is designed to be:
- Emotionally safe – with supervision that ensures positive, respectful interaction
- Age-appropriate – conversations and activities are tailored to the child’s level of understanding
- Consistent – regular contact helps preserve bonds during difficult transitions
- Non-intrusive – our supervisors are present but discreet, only stepping in if needed
We are committed to neutrality and professionalism, ensuring all parties feel respected and heard—while always prioritising the child’s needs.
Supervisor’s Role
Each session is facilitated by an experienced contact supervisor who:
- Initiates and ends the call
- Conducts pre-session checks with both child and parent
- Observes the entire session, ensuring it remains appropriate and safe
- Intervenes calmly and proportionately if boundaries are breached
Supervisors remain quietly present—often with cameras and microphones off—to allow natural interaction, while closely monitoring the session to protect the child’s wellbeing.
Boundaries and Intervention
Our supervisors will intervene immediately if:
- Inappropriate topics (e.g., legal matters or negative comments about the other parent) are introduced
- The child shows emotional distress or reluctance
- Unauthorised individuals appear in the call
- There are attempts to manipulate or pressure the child
- The session is recorded or screen-captured, which is strictly prohibited
Our trauma-informed and child-sensitive approach ensures that any concerns are managed professionally and respectfully.
